“Your Grace summons you to the Painted Table.” The servant had said after I had gotten back to my room from my morning training. Daenerys had gotten busier in the last few weeks as she planned ahead for the upcoming war.
I found her standing by the fireplace with her back turned towards me and the table that was in the shape of the Seven Kingdoms. A few figurines of different houses of Westeros were laid out in their appropriate places.
“You called?”
She takes a moment to turn, collecting her thoughts.
“In a few days Olenna Tyrell, Ellaria Sand, and Yara Greyjoy will be here to pledge their allegiance to me and further discuss our plans to take the Iron Throne.” She rounded the table, walking closer to me. “But before they arrive is there anything I must know?”
I furrowed my brows, thinking back or ahead in the future? Nonetheless, I wracked my brain for anything that would be useful.
“Oh,” I remembered. “An ambush. There’s going to be an ambush.”
A flash of concern comes across her face. “Who?”
“Euron Greyjoy. After your meeting you ordered Yara to escort Ellaria and their troops to Sunspear. But along the way Euron ambushes them.” The whole ordeal was hard to read. Daenerys’ campaign was going so well until that point.
“It was catastrophic. So many died and so many ships destroyed they were still finding wreckage when I was born.” I turned towards the map, thinking back to where we were told the ambush had taken place.
“Here. 50 miles north of Sharp Point in Blackwater Bay.” I pointed out. “That’s where they were ambushed.”
“The damage?”
“Significant. Euron, Yara’s uncle, takes her and Ellaria Sand and her daughter as hostages for Cersie and imprisons them in King's Landing. And, his ships are equipped with Scorpions.”
She takes in a deep breath, trying to keep her composure. Her eyes look down at where I’ve pointed just a moment ago, weighing her options and thinking of a new plan.
“So what do we do?”
I smile. “I have a plan.”
Rain had been pouring down for the past three days and it showed no signs of letting up all while the entire castle prepared for the arrival of Houses Greyjoy, Martel, and Tyrell. I sighed, walking away from the floor to ceiling windows of the library and back to the roundtable full of books. With the rain getting heavier Grey Worm had decided to postpone my lessons which left me in the library of the castle, hunched over a mountain of books.
“Not very fond of the rain?” Missandei asks from the table, peering over a book. “I am. Just not very fond of the dreariness of it.” I reply, sitting down across from her. “It’s interesting how something as simple as the weather can change a person's entire mood.”
She nodded, setting the book aside. “In Essos it barely rained. Whenever it did, the sky would be clear and the temperature hot. Here, the rain is so…”
“Heavy.” I finished off. “Whenever the weather gets like this all I want to do is sleep.”
“It does, doesn’t it?” Missandei beams. “I just want to curl up under the hearth with a cup of tea and a good book.”
I laughed, “after all the reading I’ve done, it’s the last thing I’d want to do when I’m relaxing.”
We both shared a laugh before falling into a pregnant pause. I could tell that she was still apprehensive about me. When she came to me this morning, asking to join me in the library, I was shocked. Out of council meetings and occasionally bumping into each other we had barely talked.
“You don’t trust me,” I said.
She watched my expression as she replied. “Can you blame me?”
I shook my head. “No, I’m glad that you are, though. I’d be more concerned if you’d blindly trust me. Especially with my.. sudden appearance.”
Out of everyone in Daenerys’ council I knew from the start that Missandei would be the hardest to build a relationship with. She’d been with Dany for years. She’d seen her at her lowest and highest. Which is why she would be one of my most important allies, other than Daenerys.
“You also don’t trust us,” Missandei says.
“Wrong,” I correct. “I trust Daenerys. You. Grey Worm, and Tyrion.”
“Not Lord Varys?” She asks.
“No. Varys is… different, in a lot of ways.” I needed to tread carefully. I couldn’t just outwardly say that he would betray Daenerys and be the reason why Misssandei would die. But, I could sew in the seeds of doubt.
“He’s.. somewhat unpredictable.” I pursed my lips. “His origin and journey is admirable, don’t get me wrong. It’s just his methods and means and history that are a bit questionable.”
Everyone knows that Varys has his “little birds” but they don’t know the truth behind them. Missandei didn’t say much after that, letting my words sit in her mind for the rest of the day. I knew what I had said had left her stumped and that she would tell Daenerys of our conversation. I just hoped that the seed had been planted deep enough.
The storm had raged on into the night. I was getting ready to turn into the night when a servant informed me of a small council meeting at the Painted Table. Quickly, I made my way over, seeing that everyone else was already there.
“I hope I’m not late.” I say to no one in particular. Missandei and Grey Worm give me a few nods while Tyrion and Varys watch Daenerys who had her back towards us, deep in thought.
“On a night like this, you were born,” Tyrion remarks.
“I remember that storm. All the dogs in King’s Landing howled through the night.” Varys adds.
“I wish I could remember it.” Daenerys says, finally turning around. Her face was somewhat stoic as she walked over to the table. “I always thought this would be a homecoming, this doesn't feel like home.”
She’s upset, I noted. Did Missandei and I’s conversation work?
“We won’t stay at Dragonstone for long.” Tyrion reassures.
“Good.” She says, looking at the figurine on the table. “Not many lions.”
“Cersie controls fewer than half of the Seven Kingdoms. The lords of Westeros despise her. Even before your arrival, they plotted against her. Now…” Varys says. I don’t know why but the tone of his voice makes me want to jump into the sea.
“They cry out for their true queen? They drink secret toasts to my health?” Daenerys walks closer to Varys, almost as if she were sizing him up. “People used to tell my brother that sort of thing, and he was stupid enough to believe them.”
Everyone in the room watches carefully as she picks up a dragon figurine from the table. “If Viserys had three dragons and an army at his back he’d have invaded King’s Landing already.”
“Conquering Westeros would be easy for you. But you’re not here to be the queen of the ashes.” Tyrion interjects.
“No,” Daenerys puts down the dragon figure.
“We can take the Seven Kingdoms without turning it into a slaughterhouse,” I say. “We already have three great houses supporting your claim.”
“I agree,” Tyrion nods my way. “With the Tyrell army and the Dornish on our side, we have powerful allies in the south.”
Daenerys looks at Varys. “I never properly thanked you for that.” Though, her voice lacked any bit of gratitude.
“They joined our side, my queen, because they believe in you.” Vays says.
“You served my father, didn’t you, Lord Varys?”
“I did,” He replies.
“And then you served the man who overthrew him?” Her tone shifted.
“I had a choice, Your Grace– serve Robert Baratheon or face the headsman's axe.” Varys says defensively.
“But you didn’t serve him long. You turned against him.”
“Robert was an improvement on your father, to be sure. There have been few rulers in history as cruel as the Mad King. Robert was neither mad nor cruel. He simply had no interest in being king.” Varys countered.
“So you took it upon yourself to find yourself a better one.” She pressed further.
Tyrion, feeling the tension in the room, comes to Varys’ defense. “Your Grace,” Daenerys turns towards Tyrion. “When I was ready to drink myself into a small coffin, Lord Varys told me about a queen in the east who–”
“Before I came to power,” Daenerys turned back to Varys, “you favored my brother. All your spies, your little birds, did they tell you Viserys was cruel, stupid, and weak? Would those qualities have made for a good king in your learned opinion?”
“Until your marriage to Khal Drogo, Your Grace. I knew nothing about you, save your existence and that you were said to be beautiful.” Varys deflects. Daenerys looks past and towards me.
“Are you sure?” I hummed, catching everyone’s attention. Varys’ face hardened and he glared towards me. “Because from what I remember, you’ve always known about Daenerys.”
I stepped forward, standing behind Daenerys. “Matter of fact, you were the one who planned Daenerys’ marriage to Khal Drogo with Illyrio.”
Varys opened his mouth to speak, but Daenerys beat him to it.
“You and your friends traded me like a prized horse to the Dothraki.”
“Which you turned to your advantage.” He was starting to panic. It was clear the Varys didn’t like to have his back against the wall.
“Who gave the order to kill me?”
“King Robert.” He replies quickly.
“Who hired the assassins?” She steps closer to Varys. “Who sent word to Essos to murder Daenerys Targaryen?”
“Your Grace,” you could hear panic set in his voice. “I did what had to be done–”
“To keep yourself alive.” Daenerys says firmly.
“Lord Varys has proven himself a loyal servant.” Tyrion says, trying to calm the situation.
“Proven himself loyal?” I scoffed.
“Quite the opposite.” Daenerys, turned towards her hand. “If he dislikes one monarch. He conspires to crown the next one. What kind of a servant is that?”
“The kind the realm needs.” Varys says firmly. “Incompetence should not be rewarded with blind loyalty. As long as I have my eyes, I’ll use them. I wasn’t born into a great house. I come from nothing. I was sold as a slave and carved up as an offering. When I was a child, I lived in alleys, gutters, abandoned houses. You wish to know where my true loyalties lie? Not with any king or queen, but with the people. The people who suffer under despots and prosper under just rule. The people whose hearts you aim to win. If you demand blind allegiance, I respect your wishes. Grey Worm can behead me or your dragons can devour me. But if you let me live, I will serve you well. I will dedicate myself to seeing you on the Iron Throne because I choose you. Because I know the people have no better chance than you.”
Silence lingers in the air as Varys’ words settle into the room. The rest watched the three of us carefully, holding their breaths.
“Swear this to me, Varys.” Daenerys’ voice is calm, and no longer holds any edge. “If you ever think I’m failing the people, you won’t conspire behind my back. You’ll look me in the eye as you have done today, and you’ll tell me how I’m failing them.”
Feeling satisfied that he’s in the clear, Varys stands straight. “I swear it, my queen.”
“And I swear this– if you even betray me, I’ll burn you alive.” She quickly warns.
Varys smiles. “I would expect nothing less from the Mother of Dragons.”
Amidst back and forth a servant had entered the room, informing Grey Worm of a visitor.
“Forgive me, my queen. A red priestess from As’shai has some to see you.”
––––
The doors to the throne room open, revealing a woman in red standing alone. She had red hair and dark red-ish eyes. Could this be?
The woman bows, her eyes linger on me before addressing Daenerys in Valyrian. “Queen Daeneys, I was a slave once, bought and sold, scourged and branded. It is an honor to meet the Breaker of Chains.”
“The Red Priests helped bring peace to Meereen. You are very welcome here. What is your name?” Daenerys replies.
“I am called Melisandre.”
“She once served another who wanted the Iron Throne.” Varys says from behind us. “It didn’t end well for Stannis Baratheon, did it?”
“No, it didn’t” Melisandre replies with no emotions.
Not only did it not end well for Stannis, but it also didn’t end well for his daughter who he burned alive under Melisandre’s orders, but if you ask her it was the “Lords” doing.
“You chose an auspicious day to arrive at Dragonstone.” Daenerys turns to look at Varys. “We’ve decided to pardon those who served the wrong king.”
Varys doesn’t reply and just bows his head, thankful that Daenerys hadn’t fed him to Drogon.
Daenerys turns back to Melisandre. “The Lord of Light doesn’t have many followers in Westeros, does he?”
“Not yet. But even those who don't worship the Lord can serve his cause.”
“What does your Lord expect from me?” Daenerys questions.
“The Long Night is coming. Only the prince who was promised can bring the dawn.”
I sucked in a breath through my nose. We were getting closer to Jon’s arrival and everything else that would follow suit.
“The prince who was promised will bring the dawn.” Daenerys repeats. “I'm afraid I'm not a prince.”
“Your Grace, forgive me, but your translation is not quite accurate.” Missandei corrects from the side. “That noun has no gender in High Valyrian, so the proper translation for that prophecy would be the prince or princess who was promised will bring the dawn.”
“Doesn’t really roll off the tongue, does it?” Tyrion comments.
“No, but I like it better.” Daenerys turns back to Melisandre. “And you believe this prophecy refers to me?”
“Prophecies are dangerous things. I believe you have a role to play, as does another. The King in the North, Jon Snow.” Melisandre explains.
“Jon Snow?” Tyrion says, shocked. “Ned Stark's bastard?”
“You know him?” Daenerys asks.
Tyrion nods. “I traveled with him to the Wall when he joined the Night's Watch.”
“And why do you think the Lord of Light singled out this Jon Snow aside from the visions you’ve seen in the flames, that is?” Varys inquired.
“As Lord Commander of the Night's Watch he allowed the Wildlings south of the Wall to protect them from great danger. As King in the North he has united those Wildlings with the northern houses so together they may face their common enemy.”
Even after hundreds of years after the events of this time, Jon’s heroism is still marveled  upon. The North still remembers the King in the North.
“He sounds like quite a man.” I say.
“Summon Jon Snow. Let him stand before you and tell you things that have happened to him, the things that he has seen with his own eyes.” Melisandre urged Daenerys.
Tyrion nodded, “I can’t speak to prophecies or visions in the flames, but I like Jon Snow and I trusted him, and I am an excellent judge of character.”
“If he does rule the north, he would make a valuable ally. The Lannisters executed his father and conspired to murder his brother. Jon Snow has even more reason to hate Cersei than you do.” Tyrion added.
She glanced up from Tyrion to me, asking if it were true. I gave her a subtle nod and she turned back to Tyrion, smiling.
“Very well. Send a raven north.” She says. “Tell Jon Snow that his Queen invites him to come to Dragonstone… and bend the knee.”
–––
Our new allies arrived early in the morning, just as the sun rose over the horizon. I wore a black dress with a wool outer layer with silver clasps running from my collarbone to above my navel. The shoulders, forearms, and collar had a dragon scale pattern. It was simple, but still full of detail, but most importantly it kept me warm in this dreaded weather. The rain had stopped overnight, but the clouds had stayed, blocking any sunlight.
Everyone was gathered at the Painted Table, all ready and waiting for Daenerys to make her entrance. As I entered the room, conversation between our guests dulled down as they couldn’t look away. I didn’t have to look to know what they were thinking.
Another Targaryen?
The room was cold from the night's rain and the cold sea so I threw more wood into the hearth and stood by Missandei as we waited for Daenerys. I glanced around the room, watching as Yara, Ellaria, and Olenna talked but occasionally glanced towards me.
“They seem to be interested in you.” Missandei comments.
“I thought they’d have a bigger reaction,” I say. “Maybe a few jaw’s on the floor, or a few gasps of shock.”
Missandei chuckled. “I’m afraid all you’ll get is a few stares and gossip.”
“I guess I can take that.” I hummed.
The doors swung open as Daenerys entered. Everyone stood at attention as she made her way to the front of the room.
“I want to thank you all for making the journey to Dragonstone. Now, let us begin.”
Yara was the first to speak. “If you want the Iron Throne, take it. We have an army, a fleet, and three dragons. We should hit King's Landing now. Hard. With everything we have. The city will fall within a day.”
“If we turn the dragons loose, tens of thousands will die in the firestorms.” Tyrion shook his head.
Ellaria looked towards him with disgust, which was noticed by all. “It's called war. You don't have the stomach for it, scurry back into hiding.”
“I know how you wage war. We don't poison little girls here. Myrcella was innocent.” Tyrion bit back.
Ellaria scoffed. “She was a Lannister. There are no innocent Lannisters. My greatest regret is that Oberyn died fighting for you.”
“Oberyn was a grown man. He made his choice, no one can change that. Myrcella was a child, she didn’t do anything. I think we all here know that a child isn’t responsible for their fathers sins.” I said from the sidelines, giving her a pointed look.
“That's enough. Tyrion is the Hand of the Queen. You will treat him with respect.” Daenerys reminded. Both Tyrion and Ellaria backed down, Ellaria giving me one last look. “I am not here to be the Queen of Ashes.”
“That's very nice to hear.” Olenna said from across the table. “Of course, I can't remember a queen who was better loved than my granddaughter. The common people loved her, the nobles loved her. And what is left of her now? Ashes. Commoners, nobles, they're all just children really. They won't obey you unless they fear you.”
“I'm grateful to you, Lady Olenna, for your council. I'm grateful to all of you. But you have chosen to follow me. I will not attack King's Landing. We will not attack King's Landing.” Daenerys says, genuinely.
“Then how do you mean to take the Iron Throne? By asking nicely?” Olenna asks. I smiled at the older womens sass.
Daenerys looked towards me and I stepped forward. “We will lay siege to the capital, surrounding it on all sides. Cersei will have the Iron Throne, but no food for her army or the people.”
“But we won’t use Dothraki and Unsullied.” Tyrion adds. He walks around the carved table, “Cersie will try to rally the lords of Westeros by appealing to their loyalty, their love for their country. If we besiege the city with foreigners, we prove her point. Our army should be Westerosi.”
“And I suppose we’re providing the Westerosi?” Ellaria clarifies.
“You are.” Tyrion reached down, picking up a figurine that resembled a Kraken in a longship. “Lady Greyjoy will escort you home to Sunspear and her Iron Fleet will ferry the Dornish army back up to King’s Landing.” He walked over to the south of the map and picked up a figurine that resembled a sun. Taking both figurines, Tyrion places them at King’s Landing. “The Dornish will lay siege to the capital alongside the Tyrell army. Two great kingdoms united against Cersie.”
“So your master plan is to use our armies? Forgive me for asking, but why did you bother to bring your own?” Olenna asks Daenerys.
Tyrion reached down, picking up a figurine that looked like an Unsullied helmet. He walked around the map. “The Unsullied will have another objective. For decades House Lannister has been the true power in Westeros. And the seat of that power is Casterly Rock. Grey Worm and the Unsullied will sail for the Rock and take it.”
He stops in front of Casterly Rock, a lion figurine sitting on the Rock. Tyrion takes a moment before knocking over the lion with the Unsullied figurine to everyone's pleasure.
A clam settles and Daenerys addresses the room. “There is another matter to discuss.” Everyone looks at her, caught off guard. “I’ve come to learn that there will be an ambush in Blackwater Bay led by Euron Greyjoy under Cerseis’ order.”
“What?” Someone says.
“Your Grace,” Varys steps forward. “Forgive me, but I’ve heard no such thing to take place.” He eyes me suspiciously. “Perhaps you’re mistaken.”
“There have been no mistakes, Lord Varys.” Daenerys says. I moved to stand on Daenerys' side.
“Euron will strike at night.” I explain. “His ships are equipped with Scorpions, they’re deadly and will tare your ships to shreads.”
Yara’s face drops. “What the hell do we do? Our ships aren’t fully equipped to take on his.” Theon, behind her, is equally terrified.
“We know,” I say, calmly. “That is why I’ll be escorting you.”
“Forgive me, my dear, but what can you do?” Olenna asks.
“I’ll be on dragonback. I’ll be flying high enough to go unnoticed, but close by to help when the attack happens. There will be casualties on our end, that's certain, but this is war.” The others look at Daenerys and I in shock as they try to find the words to speak.
“But you’ve never flown into battle.” Tyrion says.
“So?” I shrug. “I’ll have to fight at one point, might as well start now.”
“My Lady, you’ve never flown out that far, you’ll be all alone.” Missandei says.
“No I won’t. I’ll have my dragon and I’ll have our new allies besides me.” I say, nodding towards Yara and Ellaria. “When I bent the knee to Daenerys and promised to get her the Iron Throne, I meant it. This is what I have to do.”
Daenerys gives me a reassuring look. She turned towards the room. “Do I have your support?”
Yara glances between Daenerys and I. “You have mine.”
“Dorne is with you, Your Grace.” Ellaria says.
Lady Olenna nods her head in agreement.
“Thank you all.” Daenerys says, somewhat relieved. “Lady Olenna, may I speak with you alone?”
Everyone bows and leaves the room. Before leaving I turned towards Daenerys, “I’ll go get ready for my departure.”
She nods. “Stay safe, sister.”
I smiled. “I will. When I’m back I’ll let you put a braid in my hair.” I say, leaving.
I stepped out into the hall and down to where my room was where everything was already ready for me. When I first had my conversation with Daenerys about the ambush I had also asked for some armor to be made for me. And with the help of the servants I was able to get into it quickly. It was simple but protective and it allowed me to ride my dragon without hurting either of us. I took two daggers that I’d also had made and placed them into their places on my hip.
Afterwards I headed to where the ships were docked and where Viserion was waiting for me. I stepped outside and saw everyone getting ready to leave. I spotted Yara and Theon were still on the docks giving orders to their crew.
“Is everything ready?” I ask.
“It is, My Lady. We’ll be leaving shortly.” Yara says.
“Good. You’ll leave first and I’ll be behind you not far off. We need to make it look like you’re alone and unsuspecting.” I explained. I glanced back at Theon who still hadn’t said anything, but had something on his mind. “Is something bothering you, My Lord?”
Theon looked taken aback, surprised that I was talking to him. “I’m not a lord.”
“You’re not?” I repeat. “You are Balon Greyjoy’s son, are you?”
He nods, not fully looking up at me.
“That makes you Lady Yara Greyjoy's brother, yes?”
He nods again, still not looking up.
“Then that makes you a Greyjoy, an Ironborn. You are every bit of a lord you are now and when you were born on Pyke, do not forget that. What’s happened has happened, no one can change that. All we can do is move forward. We Do Not Sow, yes?”
He nods, finally looking up at me.
––––
The ships had cleared out of the docks and were making their way into Blackwater Bay. I stood near the cliffs, ready to leave, when Tyrion came to stand beside me.
“What you’re doing is heroic, My Lady.” He says.
“I guess it is. I’ve never done anything like this.” I flexed my fingers. “My entire body’s buzzing. Was this what you felt before the Battle of the Blackwater and defeated Stannis’ army?”
Tyrion nodded. “It did. I felt like throwing up and shitting the floor at the same time.” We both laughed. “I had to drink a few glasses of wine to calm myself down. Perhaps it would help you, My Lady.”
I laughed, shaking my head. “No, I’m fine. I need a clear head. But, you can save me that glass for when I get back. Then we can talk about everything that needs to be talked about. Don’t you agree?”
“I do.”
––––
It was pitch black and cold. The heat from Viserion’s body was still keeping me warm, but the cold wind blowing past my face was getting to me. Even from up there I could hear the waves crashing down which meant that I’d be able to hear when Euron’s fleet attacked.
“How you feeling, big guy? Good?” I asked Viserion. He let out a small purr, his entire body vibrating. I sighed, looking up at the sky above. The stars and the mood were my only light as we flew further out.
“Okay,” I say out loud. “Let's go over our plan. When they attack our ships we fly down and torch them, but we have to be careful not to get too close or else we’ll be caught and we have to watch out for the Scorpions. One hit with that and we’ll be recreating Queen Rhaenys and Meraxes. And keep your eye out for Euron, we need him alive.”
Viserion purrs again and I take that as a sign that he agrees with the plan. The last few weeks I’ve flown with him were good, we’d stay around Dragonstone, the furthest we’ve been was Driftmark, so this was a huge risk.
When I had explained to Daenerys my plan she was apprehensive. It was clear that she didn’t want either Viserion or I to get hurt, but she knew that we also couldn’t risk our fleet and our army.
A loud crash brought me out of my thoughts, and a glow erupted from below. The steady waves of the ocean now clashed against one another as Euron began his assault.
This was it.
“Now.” I command.
In an instant Viserion flies down past the clouds and we’re met with Eurons fleet fighting against Yara’s. Almost instantaneously my body and mind knew what to do. Without a word Viserion flew down and prepared himself.
“Dracarys.”
Fire erupts out of his mouth and lights the enemy ships below us ablaze. He lets out a loud scratch, gathering everyone's attention below before striking again. It takes them a minute before they aim their Scorpions up towards us. The massive arrows fly past us as Viserion weaves between them while burning Eurons fleet.
It doesn’t take long for the battle to die down, the air filled with the smell of burnt wood and flesh. Our fleet was damaged but Eurons was completely destroyed. Anyone who could have survived the dragonfire were either killed or taken hostage. Like planned, a Targaryen flag is flown under the Greyjoy’s on Yara’s ship, Black Wind.
–––––
Once I’d landed back on Dragonstone I quickly said goodbye to Viserion, letting him rest, and made my way down to the docks where everyone, minus Grey Worm, would be waiting for me.
Daenerys was first to see me, giving me a tight hug while the others nodded my way, smiling.
“Well done, My Lady. You’ve done well.” Tyrion says.
“Thank you, but we’ve still got work to do.”
Right on que, a ship comes into the docks. The crew works quickly to anchor down and disembark. The Ironborn and a few Dornish step off before Theon and a few of his men step off. He’s a little bruised, and he’s got dirt and ash on his face, but overall well. He bow’s towards Daenerys and I, giving me a small smile before he steps aside and allows his men in front who are dragging a beaten up Euron Greyjoy.
“We’ve got him, Your Grace.” Says Theon.
“Good,” Daenerys’ eyes never left the unconscious Euron. “Bring him to the dungeons.”
The men hull him off and everyone makes their way back into the castle. I turn over to Tyrion.
“Let’s have that drink.”

While many men were threatened by your sisters claim you were surprised by the amount of powerful women in Westeros ready to back her. though the tales you had been told of its current queen could help explain why. Daenerys had always defended you growing up, fighting with your brother when he tried to sell you off after her and eventually having him killed. She always made sure you had her most trusted guards stationed outside your bedroom and would burn the world around you to keep you warm. You still remember the proud face she wore when your road Viserion for the first time.
Now you joined her in Dragonstone and sat in on her small council meetings. While you weren’t an expert in battle plans or ship strategies you were her heir and moral compass. She needed you to be on her side not for the war but for her sanity and her moral compass.
You listened to how even the women started to almost lecture your sister. “If you want the iron throne, take it!” Yara Greyjoy began her rant of brute force tactics. When you first met her, and you knew she would be stubborn and commanding. While you privately found this endearing it frustrated your sister who did not want to rule over ashes. You smiled as she discussed ships and soldiers. As if there weren’t three dragons who would win the war in an instant if you both agreed to it.
Tyrion knew this well from your sisters’ lengthy talks with him and pointed it out to the Iron Islander. Then the Dornish one spoke up. “It’s called war. If you don’t have the stomach for it scurry back into hiding,” Ellaria spat. You had heard a lot about her since her arrival. Watching her lover be murdered in front of her. a true tragedy. However, you were told she was just as passionate even before that.
As you learned about her you learned of the customs in Dorne as well. Men and women and women and women and men and men or sometimes many of each. Your sister had tried to protect you from the Dothraki ways, but the Dornes had a certain appeal to them. Despite her words Ellaria was beautiful in a way that left you so stunned you couldn’t even speak up. Your sister had to when Ellaria and Tyrion’s fight continued too long. you knew Ellaria’s sharp tongue should make you grimace or argue but it caused a strange light feeling in the pit of your stomach.
Daenerys approached the table as she began to discuss further with the council she had formed and rested her hand on your shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. Your silence was unusual to her, but she did not realise its cause. As they discussed war plans your eyes kept flickering to where the most beautiful, sharp witted, women you had met stood beside each other. An unlikely pair you thought but so attractive that it made your breath catch in its throat.
The only thing that broke your admiration was Tyrion’s next plan, “Lady Greyjoy will escort you home to sun spear,” your eyes snapped back to where Tyrion moved the wooden figures across the board, and you suddenly stopped the frown that had fallen on your face. It was so brief, half a moment if that, but when your eyes glanced to Yara you saw a smirk play on her lips, her eyes glued to you.
You had sunk slightly in your chair under her unwavering gaze, trying so hard not to blush or meet her eyes. Then she spoke, “Perhaps the princess should come with us,” Yara said causing your sisters hand to leave your shoulder and turn to Yara, “So she can wait out in the safety of Dorne,”
“No. She does not leave my side. I will not have it,” Daenerys said coldly, “She is safe with me,”
“I assure you your grace she would be treated very well in Dorne,” Ellaria said, her eyes flicking to you with what looked like a warm smile, but her eyes were filled with something else.
“My sister stays with me, in Dragonstone, or by my side. Always. Understood?” Daenerys said and the women nodded, their eyes trained on you, “Good. Now Tyrion continue,”
When the council meeting ended Daenerys asked Olena to stay to speak but held you back for a moment as well, “Don’t worry sweet sister. I will protect you. you are safe here you must not worry,” she said as she held your hands.
You smiled at her words, “I know Danny. I’m not worried,” you assured her.
“You just don’t seem yourself. What’s on your mind?”
“Perhaps we should discuss that later?” you asked, nodded your head towards where the Tyrell was still sat waiting expectantly.
Danny smiled and squeezed your hands before letting go, “I’ll find you before bed. Get some rest,”
When you left the chamber, you did not expect to see anyone else in the corridor, but Ellaria was outside of the door, leaning against the wall. She perked up when she saw you, “Princess,” She smiled as she pushed herself off the wall, “I don’t believe we’ve been properly introduced,”
“I don’t believe so,” you nodded, your head down as you tried to conceal your flush, “I’m just heading to my chambers im afraid,”
“I’ll walk you,” She smirked as she linked her arm with you and began to drag you away.
A hot flush crept over your neck as you said a quiet thank you. she walked with such grace and elegance that it was almost as if she was floating. “So, tell me about yourself,” Ellaria told you as she placed her hand over yours. You shivered at her touch; her skin as soft as silk.
“I’m afraid there’s too much to tell,” you blushed.
“Good thing im an excellent listener. When we get to your chambers, I can send someone to get a bottle of my finest Dornish red for us and you can tell me everything,” You knew you should not trust her or anyone for that matter, but her offer was so alluring that all you could do was nod.
When you arrived at your chamber, she told one of your men to fetch the wine then made herself comfortable as she sat on your bed, holding your hand loosely and bringing you to rest beside her. your eyes darted to the floor as you followed her silent command, but they were brought back to meet hers when she stroked a stand of hair out of your face. Her touch lingered and you felt yourself lean into it before she returned her hand to her side, “You are such an exquisite beauty,” her voice was low though and caused a warm tingling feeling across your skin.
“Not as pretty as you,” you tried to be confident, but your skin was hot.
Ellaria smiled at your words and bit back a chuckle, “Oh how sweet you are princess,” she said before you fell into a silence as you stared into her eyes. Your body felt pulled to her and hers yours as she began to lean in, her lips ghosting over yours.
Then someone knocked on the door. Ellaria didn’t break eye contact when she replied, “Come in,” her lips brushing over yours as they spoke.
Your eyes turned to the door where Yara stood leaning against the doorway with a smirk on her face, “Princess im shocked,” she teased as she sauntered into the room, “I thought I would’ve at least got an invite,” You blushed at her words, stuttering for a response when your guard appeared with the Dornish red that had been sent for. Yara took it off the man, “You can go,” she told him before closing the door behind him.
Ellaria moved closer to you as Yara approached but her lips had moved back, and you yearned for their return. “How can we help you Greyjoy?” she asked as her eyes trailed over the woman holding her wine hostage.
“I don’t know what’s finer,” Yara said as she ignored Ellaria and grabbed a spare cup off your nightstand. “Dornish wine or their women,” Yara said as she filled the cup and raised it slightly in Ellaria’s direction. The Dornish women let out a soft chuckle at her antics. “Though of course your grace neither are as fine as you,”
“At least there is something we can agree on,” Ellaria leaned in, so her hot breath fell onto your ear causing you to shiver.
Yara held the cup out to you and your fingers brushed against hers when you reached for it, “You are both far to kind. I don’t want to take up anyone’s time,” you stammered out before drinking half the cup in one go for some kind of courage. The wine was so sweet that it made you wonder what the Dornish lips tasted like.
Both women chuckled at your blush. Ellaria took the cup from your hand and took a sip for herself, “I have all the time in the world for you, your grace,”
“As do I,” Yara said as she refilled the cup, but her eyes were solely on you, “Surely you must get lonely. I hear you have never been wed,”
“Not yet,” you murmured as their eyes burned into your skin, “No suitable man has come up yet,”
“No man will ever be suitable,” Ellaria’s hand moved to rest on your thigh causing your breath to catch in your throat. You felt your skin tingle as she dragged her hand up your thigh to rest on your hip, “Not for someone of your beauty,”
“Trust me my princess,” Yara said as she leaned down onto on knee in front of you, taking your chin into your hand, “The company of women is far more…rewarding than that of men,”
“I-,”
You tried to talk but Ellaria used a finger to turn your head to face her as Yara’s hand fell away to rest on your knee, her thumb rubbing circles over your dress. “Have you enjoyed anyone’s company yet my sweet?” you shook your head at her words, “It would be an honour to share your company princess,”
“The highest of honours indeed,” Yara agreed as she leaned up from where she kneeled in front of you, her lips hovering over your breasts, “Tell us sweet princess. Would you like company this evening? Stress relief is important in times of war,” her fingers trailed over the neckline of your dress.
“I suppose I have been stressed recently,”
Ellaria tutted as she moved to kneel behind you, her hands going to your shoulders, “Stress is no good for you my dear,” she said as she swept your hair to the side and placed a kiss behind your ear. You shivered at her touch but leaned back into her, “Let us help you unwind. Would you like that?” you felt her nose gently run along the skin of your neck and you craved her lips again.
“Please,” you almost whimpered under their light touches.
“Who are we to deny the princess,” Yara said as her hands fell to move under your skirts, pushing them up your legs so her hand could rest on your bare thighs.
Ellaria’s lips began to leave open kisses to your neck, her tongue running over your skin and causing you to melt into her touch. She brought her hands down to begin squeezing your chest causing your nipples to harden. All while Yara placed her own kisses on your skin, starting at first on your knee before trailing up your inner thighs to you under clothes. Her fingers dug deep into your thighs and the pain and pleasure caused you to let out small moans and whimpers. “You sound so pretty,” Ellaria praised.
Yara began to kiss and suck on one bit of your thigh as she left deep purple marks into your skin, “So fucking pretty,” she agreed before soothing to spot with her tongue before adding another. “Tell me princess,” she asked as she pulled away from your flesh, “Have you ever touched yourself?”
Your breath caught in your throat as you stared down at the Islander who refused to break eye contact with you, “She asked you a question sweetheart,” Ellaria’s fingers had found your nipples and pinched them at your silence.
You gasped at the sensation, your eyes fluttering shut when she began to softly twist them, “Yes,” you confessed in a moan causing Ellaria to chuckle.
“How naughty of you princess,” Yara grinned as her hands moved up your thigh, closer to your admittingly wet pussy. “I’m sure I could do it better though,”
“Prove it,” you stuttered before moaning again when Ellaria put her lips back on your neck.
Yara chuckled at your attempt to be bold, “Your gonna regret that,” she smirked as she pulled your underclothes off, “Look how wet you already are. How pathetic,” she grinned as she trailed a finger up your wet fold causing you to gasp. Yara put the finger in her mouth to taste your juices. The way she moaned made your stomach flutter, “Better than the wine,”
Yara began to press kisses to the tops of your inner thighs, her face brushing against your core as she moved. You whined at the feeling. “So impatient,” Ellaria purred. Yara placed one last kiss to your thigh before turning to where you needed her most. She trailed her tongue up your slit causing a loud moan to fall from your throat. “She likes that,” Ellaria chuckled as she pulled her lips away.
“Good,” Yara smirked before her tongue descended back onto your wet cunt, licking long stripes up your wetness. She brought your legs over her shoulders, her hands gripping your thighs so tight you knew there would be marks tomorrow but you didn’t care as her tongue dived into you.
Ellaria turned your head sideways to face her as she crashed her lips onto yours. You moaned into the kiss as she continued to squeeze one nipple, the other hand holding your jaw in place. Her tongue began to glide over your lip causing you to open more to let her in, something she gladly did.
Meanwhile Yara’s tongue trailed further up to began making sloppy circles over your clit. The new sensation and your moan caused you to pull back from Ellaria’s kiss which only made her grip your jaw tighter before slamming her lips onto yours.
A warm feeling was bubbling in your stomach as the sensations overtook your body. Yara brought one of her hands to replace her tongue at your whole, two fingers diving in and curling inside you with expertise. You whimpered into the kiss. Ellaria pulled her lips off you and began leaving sloppy kisses on your neck, her tongue trailing over your skin. Her hands pulled the top of your dress down, revealing your breasts fully which she began to squeeze.
Almost as if perfectly timed Yara began to suck on your clit as Ellaria squeezed your nipples, twisting them gently as she did. Your body tensed before releasing all the pressure built inside as you came on Yara’s tongue which did not stop moving until you slumped back into Ellaria’s arms. “You were so good for us,” She praised as she pressed a kiss to your head.
“But you’re not done,” Yara said as she stood up, her knees probably aching from how long she was between your thighs. “Get up,” you did as you were told as Ellaria shot Yara a questioning look. Yara took her hand and raised her from the bed. She turned back to you and took your face into her hands “You’re going to ride her face while I suck on those pretty tits of yours,” she said before clashing her lips onto yours.
Her kiss was harsh and desperate as she began to pull the dress off your body. Ellaria pressed herself behind you, placing kisses to your neck as her hand reached round your front in between yours and Yara’s body. Her hand moved to between your legs, rubbing her fingers expertly around your clit. “Fuck,” you whined as you separated the kiss.
“You don’t get to cum again just yet,” Ellaria said as she removed her hands from your body. Her hands moved to untie the strings of her dress, letting it pool to the floors beside yours. “Come with me princess,” she said as she took your hand and led you to the bed.
Ellaria eyes gazed into yours as she lay back on the bed, pulling you to kneel above her. “What if I hurt you?” you asked causing the other two to laugh.
“You won’t,” she assured you, her hands resting on your legs, but you were still hesitant, “If I need you to stop, I’ll double tap your thighs my sweet,”
“Okay,” you said as you shuffled up slightly, your body now above her chest. “Do I just uh- “you stuttered which made Ellaria smile and Yara laugh.
Yara knelt behind you and grabbed your hips forcing you to shuffle up. Your core was probably soaking from what had just happened to it. You felt Ellaria’s sweet breath fan over it. Yara pressed a kiss to the back of your neck, “Let yourself enjoy it princess,” Yara told you.
Slowly you sank down onto Ellaria’s face, her hands moving to grip your thighs and pull you down more. You gasped as her tongue licked up your slit, her nose nuzzling against your core. You felt Yara shuffling behind you before she took her place on her knees in front of you of the bed. Her hand went to the back of your neck and pulled you in to crash her lips onto yours.
You whimpered when Ellaria’s tongue began to dive into you, curling against your walls. Yara smirked into the kiss as her hands moved to grab your breasts. Her hands were much rougher than Ellaria as was her grip which made you moan more. However, her hands soon moved to grab your ass, sinking her fingers into the flesh before delivering a quick spank to one cheek. You gasped which broke the kiss but soon chased her lips again as her hand ran over the red mark to sooth it.
One of her hands found your hips to make you grind against Ellaria’s face. This made her nose nuzzle deeper into your clit making the same pressure as before building up all over again. Yara’s other hand went to your breast, grabbing it hard before her fingers began to toy with your nipple. Her lips fell from yours to capture the other nipple with her wet kisses. Your moans rang out in the chamber as Yara’s teeth grazed your sensitive bud.
The pressure was almost painful as the pair continued their assault on your most sensitive areas. You felt your body tighten and Ellaria pulled your thighs down further as your hips tried to buck away. “Please im gonna- “you beg was interrupted by a gasp as Yara pinched your nipple.
She released the other with a pop as she pressed a wet kiss to your lips, “Let go princess,” she told you and suddenly the knot in your stomach unleashed as you came hard from Ellaria’s tongue and Yara’s hand. A moan ripped through your throat as your body spasmed above her.
Ellaria’s grip on your thighs relinquished and before you could fall on her Yara grabbed your shoulders to pull you to lay on the bed. “Fuck,” you gasped as you stared up at the ceiling dazed.
Soon the two women were laying on each of your side, Yara’s hand stroking your thigh as she placed sweet kisses to your cheeks. Ellaria began to play with your hair, leaving her own kiss on your forehead, “You were magnificent,” she praised.
The three of you continued your fun before retiring in a heap under the blankets. You were half out of it when you heard your chamber door creak open. Your head lazily turned to the side before your eyes quickly widened when you met your sisters gaze. Danny stood, her jaw dropped and eyes wide before she quickly composed herself, “This is not what I meant by rest,” she said, her voice low when she noticed your two new friends were softly snoring.
“Sorry?” you offered with a sheepish smile.
“Its okay,” Danny said with a chuckle, “I guess I’ll have to start knocking,”

-> Chapter XXXIII ''Dārilaros''
Chapter XXXIV ''A meeting''
The time has finally come to the meeting with her allies and present a plan of action. Everyone gathered in the room with the map, sitting on chairs at the table. Only Grey Worm and ser Arthur stood, close to the wall.
"You want the Iron Throne, so just take it." Yara spoke up. "We have an army, a fleet and dragons, if we attack King's Landing with everything we have, the city will fall the same day."
"And how many innocent people will die, especially if the dragons are set free?" Tyrion remarked.
"This is war. If you don't have the nerve for it, don't play it." Ellaria interjected.
"We're supposed to discuss the plan, not argue and insult each other." Visenya said, interrupting everyone. "Just because we declare war doesn't mean that thousands of ordinary people have to die, I won't allow that. And I don't intend to rule the kingdom of ashes."
"That's good." this time Olenna spoke up. "I don't remember a Queen who was more beloved than my granddaughter. She was loved by both commoners and the powerful. And what is left of her? Ashes. The common and the powerful are like children, really. They won't obey you unless they fear you."
This is their first meeting, and almost nothing has gone her way this far. It was easier when she dealt with the Lords in Essos, they were evil men, she had no problem intimidating them into doing what she wanted. Here the situation was more complicated, she had to unite people who had to support her in order to stay on the throne.
She felt she couldn't show weakness because if she did, it would be the end of her. They will tear her to pieces and there will be nothing left of her.
"They have to fear the consequences of their actions, not me." she replied calmly. "Also, almost half the fleet has sailed back to Meereen, so we're not at full strength yet." she noticed.
"You're going to wait..." Olenna paused for a moment, counting in her head how long it would be before the ships return. "Almost half a year? Until winter comes?"
"We have enough men to lay siege to the city if you don't want to attack directly." Yara came back to her idea of attacking King's Landing right away, it was in her mind the fastest way to take the Iron Throne.
Vis sighed in her mind and leaned further into her chair. She turned her gaze to Tyrion and nodded. Enough of this verbal bickering, they will tell them their plan for now and then they will argue if necessary.
"It would be a great idea, if not for a few "buts"..."he started and got up from his chair to illustrate their plan, pointing to specific places on the map and moving the figures. "King's Landing is surrounded mostly by forests, which is a problem in itself, and we don't know where the Iron Fleet or Lannister forces are right now, other than the garrison in the city. We also cannot forget about some of the Lords whom Cersei converted to her side by talking about foreign armies brought to Westeros and referring to their memories of the Mad King."
This time, no one commented on a single word Tyrion said. Everyone was waiting for the rest of his statement, which filled Visenya with hope that they would all be able to come to an agreement. She didn't have much input into the current plan, she just pointed out a few things. She would like to be able to say something more, to know what needs to be considered when planning the next steps, battles, sieges, and movement of troops.
Mostly she stayed silent and listened to her friends, learning from what they said, but she didn't have the courage to admit to them that she didn't know something. She was the Queen after all, she was supposed to lead them. This fear remained in her, that if she showed weakness, her potential allies would abandon her.
"Cersei will not attack first, she will wait for our move as long as she can. If she was going to attack any place, it would be Highgarden." he moved the lion figurine to the Tyrell residence. "Food supplies and gold that she will desperately need. Therefore, the Reach troops will remain in the Reach. We will transport the supplies we need at this moment on ships that will also take soldiers from Dorne. Before that, we will provoke the Iron Fleet by sending a small force to Casterly Rock, to secure the transport as best as possible." he paused for a moment. The rest of the plan was much more general. "Then we'll take care of the army in the country, outside King's Landind, so that they won't be able to break the siege. By then we should be able to challenge the Iron Fleet as they attempt to deliver supplies to King's Landing."
"That is my plan." she finally got up from her seat, leaning on the table with her hands. "Do I have your support?"
She felt her heart speed up and her lips suddenly become mercilessly dry. This is the first important moment in the fast-approaching war. Either they support her or she will be left alone on the battlefield.
"You have mine." Yara spoke first, decisively, without any hesitation in her voice.
"Dorne is with you, Your Grace." Elaria spoke up right after her.
The tension was already starting to leave her shoulders, but there was one more person who had to accept this plan and she turned her gaze to her. Olenna Tyrell. She finally nodded too.
"Thank you for your trust, I won't let you down." she smiled at everyone.
"Can we talk privately for a moment, Your Grace?" Lady Tyrell's question surprised her, but she nodded and everyone else began to leave the chamber. When they were alone, she went to sit on the chair next to her.
"I think I know what you want to say... You want revenge on Cersei. I know that's why you all support my claim to the throne." she said, taking a seat. That was the only reason she could think of for this conversation and she could assure her that justice will be served. "I swear that those who hurt us will pay for it a hundredfold. And then there will finally be peace in Westeros.
"Peace?" she didn't answer whether that was what she wanted to talk about, but she obviously picked up on the topic and had her own opinion. She had heard of the Queen of Thorns before her escape and knew she was an intelligent woman. That's why she wanted to listen to everything he had to say and draw some lesson from it. "Do you think there was peace when your grandfather sat on the Iron Throne? Or his father? Or that it would be if your father ruled? There is never peace, my dear. People will always find a reason to fight."
She wanted to deny it, to say that it was possible to keep the peace and she would do it, but then she realized that she couldn't argue, that Olenna was right. People fight when they are dissatisfied, and you can't please everyone. Someone will want more and more wealth, others will want higher and higher titles. She had already experienced in Meereen that it was impossible to create a place without violence, but she wanted to continue living this utopian dream.
"I wanted to give you a piece of advice." she finally said what she had wanted from the beginning. "Will you take it from an old woman?"
"I will never despise advice that someone wants to give me for free." she smiled warmly and shifted in her chair, crossing her legs.
"Your Hand is a clever man. I've known many people like him in my life and I've outlived them all. Do you know why? I ignored them." this surprised Visenya, she didn't expect this type of advice. "Lords of Westeros are sheep. Are you a sheep?"
Her smile faded. For a moment she wanted to look down, because it was hard for her to stand Olenna's gaze, but she didn't, she forced herself to manage it. Is she a gentle, naive sheep? Often yes... But she wouldn't call the Lords of the Seven Kingdoms that, but maybe she just didn't know them as well as Olenna.
"No. You are the dragon." a delicate smile appeared on her face again as soon as she heard these words. "Be a dragon."
"I will be."
* * *
The boat reached the shores of Dragonstone, in almost the same place where, about a month earlier, Visenya Targaryen had taken her first step in Westeros in four years. Tyrion, Missandei and a small force of Dothraki stood on the shore in case any trouble occurred.
Robb Stark and Ser Davos Seaworth came ashore, accompanied by some of their men.
"Someone escaped death from under the scythe." Tyrion spoke first, using his 'unfailing humor'.
"Someone has done it more times than me." Robb replied.
The last time they saw each other was when Tyrion returned from the Wall and went to Winterfell to hand over the design of a saddle for Bran so he could ride. Their relationship was not very good, mainly due to the suspicion that Tyrion ordered Bran's murder. And now he is here on Dragonstone, wearing the pin of the Hand of the Queen.
How far can his talk take him?
Tyrion preferred not to speak to Ser Davos due to the fact that when they were fighting against each other, when Stannis was attacking the capital, Davos's son was killed because of his plan. Yes... It's better not to bring up these memories.
"Welcome to Dragonstone." Missandei greeted everyone before Tyrion could say anything else. "The Queen knows it's a long journey and she appreciates the efforts you've made to get here. If you don't mind handing over your weapons.
It wasn't a question of whether they minded or not, they had no other choice. Of course they won't let them enter the castle with weapons. Robb tried to be optimistic, after all, things weren't looking bad so far, they were still alive.
When everyone gave up their weapons, things got a little worse, because some of the Dothraki went to get the boat that they used to reach the shore from the ship, picked it up and started walking away with it. So we are prisoners here?
"Please, this way." she smiled and gestured with her head for them to follow her. They had to walk most of the beach and up all the stairs before they entered the castle.
As they followed her, Davos went over to ask her where she was from, while Robb remained silent and focused on her unusual outfit. It was rather typical for women to wear dresses, especially those of high birth. However, Missandei did not have a dress, only a cloak which shape imitated the cut of the dress. Additionally, two belts crossed on her chest, holding some kind of shoulder straps, one of them had a silver brooch, circle with three dragon heads attached to it. And, of course, trousers and high boots. I wonder if their queen wears the same kind of clothes... She was probably the one who started this 'trend'.
"This place has changed." ser Davos said to him after he had exchanged a few words with Missandei and they continued walking along the beach towards the castle.
"Inside probably even more so, you won't see the same sigils anymore." he replied.
"I hope I don't have to visit the prison again."
He rolled his eyes at this answer and said nothing more. They would have no reason to keep them prisoners, they would rather kill them. But they are still alive, that's the most important thing. Perhaps they will even be able to leave this island on their own.
The building itself made a great impression, mainly due to the figures of dragons crowning the towers or above the gate and at the entrances. A stronghold for the Dragon Queen indeed. Although climbing all those stairs when you spent the last many days on the ship and didn't have much opportunity to walk... A bit of a challenge.
"How's Sansa? I heard she's alive and well." Tyrion asked him when they were almost halfway up.
"She's fine." he replied rather dryly. He still had a bad taste for the Lannisters, even though - apparently - Tyrion was now fighting against his family.
"Does she miss me a lot?" yes... He had already forgotten that they married his little sister to Tyrion... He gave him a look that was enough of an answer. "A marriage of convenience, and unconsummated." You would try to do it differently... "Anyway... She's smarter than she lets on."
"Oh, she's changed..." he sighed. He regretted that he had not been able to protect her from all the horrors that had befallen her, but the most important thing was that she had survived. She changed... Like all of them, they grew up faster than they should have.
"Someday I want to hear how you survived my father's trap and then took Winterfell back from the Boltons with your siblings." Tyrion wanted to add, 'You Starks are hard to kill', but he thought that would be an exaggeration, even for him.
At first, Robb felt a huge need to punch him for reminding him of those very painful moments. The only thing that stopped him was that he needed the Queen's help and he couldn't start a conflict between them.
"When you tell me how it happened that the Lannister went from being a torturer to becoming the Hand of Visenya Targaryen?"
"I have never been a torturer." Tyrion defended himself. He had never done anything bad to this girl, and now he actually admired her for what she was able to achieve. He may like to tease, but he won't let himself be called that. "And my path to this 'top' was long and quite bloody. To be honest, I was drunk for most of it." there was silence for a moment as they climbed the stairs. "Tell me, why exactly did you accept the invitation? If I were advising you, I would strongly advise you not to come here."
"Apparently I don't learn from my mistakes. Or maybe-" He stopped abruptly when he heard an inhuman screech just behind them.
Both he and Davos fell to the ground, as a pitch-black dragon flew just above their heads. More flew right behind him, green, golden and white, shimmering blue in the sun. The four of them had been circling the island and now they were racing around the castle.
Only the two of them fell to the ground, the others seemed to be used to this sight and inhuman sounds that quickly chilled their blood. Tyrion walked over and offered his hand to help him up.
"I'd say you'd get used to them, but you never really do." he declared, smiling slightly under his breath. "Come, their mother is waiting for you."
Inside, Visenya was not yet sitting on the throne, but she was impatiently pacing the room and waiting. As Tyrion and Missandei went to greet her guest, only Ser Arthur and a pair of Unsullied were left with her to stand guard.
She kept thinking about how she should start the conversation and what she should say to get what she wanted. He agreed to come, so that was already half of a win, but now she had to convince him. With Dorne and the Reach it was easier, Varys took care of the most important conversations - even though she didn't ask him to... - and there was a different mentality in these parts of the country. They did not lose much strength in the war, they were burning for revenge, while the North suffered a lot and probably wanted peace above all.
She doesn't want soldiers from them, she just wants the Starks to also support her claim to the throne and acknowledge her authority, that's all. But if you consider what the Mad King did to Brandon and Rickard Stark, what her father did to Lyanna Stark... But she is not them, she will not allow herself to be judged by the crimes of her ancestors.
"What do you think he's like?" she asked suddenly, finally moving away from the window. "Brave or stupid to accept my invitation?" she slowly walked up the stairs and finally sat down.
"People have heard of your achievements in Essos."
"And they also heard the rumors spread by Cersei. Apparently in some village they say I have a tail and horns."
"Quite a funny vision, who knows, maybe they would add to your charm?" she rolled her eyes. She knew that he was teasing her, trying to calm her down, so he must have noticed that she was stressed.
She would have said something back, but at that moment the door to the chamber began to open, so she straightened up in her seat and stared straight ahead. She should be used to it by now, but something made her unable not to get stressed. She kept her hands clasped in her lap and concentrated on not playing with them, not showing any nervousness.
"You stand in the presence of Visenya of House Targaryen, rightful heir to the Iron Throne, rightful Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, the Mother of Dragons, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Queen of Yunkai, Queen of Astapor, Queen of Meereen, the Unburnt, Breaker of the Chains." she was introduced with all her titles by Missandei, who was taking her place by the stairs to her left, Tyrion standing to her right.
Robb's first thought was that he had never heard of a person holding so many titles. Has anyone really ever called her all those titles? What does 'the Unburnt' even mean? Either she has actually achieved so much in the last four years, or she has a very large ego, or both.
"This is Robb Stark, King in the North." Ser Davos said, his voice echoing through the hall.
She didn't even listen to him much, she stared at the boy who immediately seemed familiar to her.
She had seen him before, seen those curls, even from this distance she could also tell that she had seen those blue eyes before. She dreamed of and danced with him. So maybe it belongs to him...
She realized that she had been silent for too long, that she should say something.
"Thank you for accepting my invitation, Your Grace." she emphasized these two words. "I hope the journey wasn't too hard." she decided to exchange pleasantries, as she first had to put thoughts of him aside before she could move on to politics.
"The winds were quite kind to us, thank you." he replied, having to focus on the here and now.
Of course, it didn't escape his notice that they had met before. She was the woman who had not left his thoughts for several days since the dream, she was the one who mounted the dragon and flew on its back. That silver hair and purple eyes are unmistakable, of course, a Targaryen.
"You don't have to be afraid of me. I'm not like my enemies, I don't invite people under my roof and then kill them." she assured, even though nothing in his behavior indicated that he was afraid of her.
"A woman with an army, a fleet, and four dragons telling you not to be afraid of her is unheard of." she smiled slightly under her breath, even though he said it with noticeable irony in his voice, or maybe as a joke? She couldn't tell. "And you call yourself the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, and I call myself the King of one of those kingdoms, doesn't that make us enemies, Your Grace?"
"Do you want to be my enemy?" she couldn't help but ask this question, even though she didn't expect any answer, so she quickly continued. "I don't want wars, violence should be the last resort, that's why I invited you here. We have a common enemy: Cersei Lannister. I propose that we become allies."
"On what basis?"
"The one you're thinking about. Support my claim to the crown, acknowledge my authority, and I will give us all our desired revenge."
Of course that's what she wants, that's why she invited him, just like he thought from the beginning... Perhaps if what was said about her - or rather what rumors Cersei was spreading - were at least partially true, he would not think long, just kneel and swear allegiance. But she didn't look like a monster, she didn't act like one. In fact, after what she really did, common people would say that she is an angel in human body.
It could have been just a cover, but it made him decide to fight for the independence of his kingdom.
"I can support your claim, but not to my kingdom." he said firmly. "I'm sorry, Your Grace, but we don't know each other. We know as much about ourselves as we have been told. You are invoking a right that you don't actually have because your dynasty was overthrown. All you can do is win throne back and then I will recognize your rights." he paused for a moment, watching her reaction. She didn't look angry. "Do you really want to rule lands you don't know? I've heard  many good and bad things about you, I don't know what to believe, you can't expect to come back after four years and everyone submitting to you."
She didn't expect it, but she also didn't think of her rights as something she didn't actually have. Who else would have a better claim to the throne? There is no one else left to inherit from Robert, kingdoms could not remain under the rule of the usurper Cersei. It's not just that this woman doesn't deserve the crown, but also that she doesn't know how to rule, doesn't care about the people under her, and only wants power and a good life. This is not what a ruler should want.
She didn't lose hope, on the contrary - she believed that she was able to convince him. For some reason, fate had allowed them to 'mee'" before under quite nice circumstances, certainly not to become enemies later.
"I don't want to just rule, I want to change." she replied more dispassionately than she wanted. She decided that she had to somehow shorten the distance between them, let him to known her, if they were to get along. At the same time, she would also like to get to know him better... She got up from her throne and began to slowly approach. "You've probably also heard a lot about the little girl that Tywin kept as his trophy, a memory of times gone by - that's a nice phrase I heard once. It would seem that many people should feel sorry for me: An orphan, my father died before I was born, and my mother was raped and killed by the Mountain shortly after, right after he killed my siblings." she paused for a moment to make her next words sound stronger. "Nobody was sorry. No one delivered justice. Robert actually demanded my head, the head of a several-day-old baby. He tried to kill me a few times, of course he did, he hated my father so much, he was so afraid that his blood would survive and become a threat to him one day."
She had to stop for a moment to don't let tears - that were coming to her eyes as the memories of her childhood flooded her - fall.
Robb didn't dare interrupt her. He knew her story as much as it was talked about. The maester once taught him about the last members of this house, Visenya, and Viserys and Daenerys, who managed to escape to Essos right after the war. Since Visenya was here alone, he guessed that the other two had not survived until now.
He never paid much attention to her history, he was a child, he preferred to duel with Theon, first with wooden and then with blunt swords, than to learn history. But now, hearing it straight from her... He sympathized. He could easily say that, he felt sorry for her. While he had fun running around Winterfell, when he could come to his parents at any time - even at night when he had a nightmare - and he had no worries, she never had that luxury. She was forever alone, with the specter of death hanging over her head. She lived under the roof of someone like Tywin Lannister, who - as he knew from experience - was ready to do anything to win.
If she wanted to make me feel sorry for her, she's already succeeded.
"I survived. I've lived seventeen years of something I wouldn't call life. I survived and finally managed to escape. I spent four years in completely foreign lands, and yet they were the best years of my life. You said you heard a lot of good things about me... Did you hear that I freed slaves from all over Slaver's Bay? The Breaker of Chains. No one ever did this, no one thought that they were people too and deserved a normal life. Soon, the concept of 'slavery' will become history. And they have will come back to it... The dragons. The world hadn't seen them for over a hundred years until my children were born. The Dothraki never followed any woman, they considered them too weak. They also never crossed any sea. And yet now they listen to me, they crossed the sea for me." she finished speaking as she stopped a step in front of him. "Many men have tried to kill me, but no one succeeded. If all that has happened to me isn't a sign that I was born to rule the Seven Kingdoms, I don't know what else it could be. If not fate, how else to explain it?"
"Maybe. But you will rule the frozen wasteland unless we defeat the real enemy."
In his answer, he did not refer to what she said about herself, he did not want to show that he admired her for what she did for those people from across the sea. He should finally address the issue that made him decide to come here and talk to her in the first place.
"My only enemy is Cersei Lannister."
"You are wrong, Your Grace." Davos interrupted. "Death is the enemy of us all."
"Very poetic." this time it was Tyrion who joined the discussion. She didn't see any hidden meaning behind Davos' words, but she started thinking about them in a different context...
"Let him talk." she said, giving her Hand a quick glance. "Continue..." she trailed off because she didn't know the man's name.
"Ser Davos Seaworth, thank you." he cleared his throat quietly. "I don't mean any poetry..." He looked at Tyrion for a moment. "...but a real threat. The undead army is on the other side of the Wall and they will attack us soon. An army that knows no fatigue and does not leave bodies on the battlefield. This is our enemy. If we don't deal with him... Does it really matter whose corpse sits on the Iron Throne?"
"If it doesn't matter, you might as well pledge your allegiance here and now. We all together will deal with Cersei, and then we'll go fight... Whatever you were talking about."
Honestly, she wished Tyrion wouldn't interfere right now. She didn't have anything better to say herself, and she tried to appreciate that Tyrion wanted to win another house's support for her, but she felt it didn't make sense today. They can argue all they want, but no one will trust a stranger enough to put the fate of their people in his hands.
"Enough." she said to him quietly. She hoped that would be enough to stop him from interfering with the bend-the-knee issue again. "We are strangers. I understand that you will not give your lands to me, and you should understand that I will not dedicate my army to your cause, to fight against some... Army of the undead?"
She wasn't entirely skeptical about Ser Davos' words, considering one of her dreams, but she couldn't blindly believe in them... She wasn't alone, she was dragging thousands of people along with her, she had to think about their safety, not just her own. Additionally, she has just begun the final preparations for the war against Cersei, the ships have already sailed, the fighting will begin soon. If she withdraws from the campaign as soon as it begins, what will her allies think of her? Without her in the south, Cersei will not be afraid to send an army to take over more and more lands and oppress more and more people.
"I know it sounds like some store made to scare naughty children." Robb spoke up. "But if it weren't for that, I wouldn't be here. My own sister advised me against it, and yet here I am. Maybe it's stupidity, maybe it's desperation, but coming here, I trusted you with my life, because - like you - I want to save people who have already suffered enough."
She was about to say something, she even knew what, but then they heard hurried footsteps coming from behind the corridor. It was Varys, he walked past their guests and went straight to Visenya, leaned down and whispered a few words:
"Your Grace, we need to talk urgently, it's very important."
She nodded gently and he moved away from her. She had to politely end this conversation somehow. Maybe it's even good, she will have time to think about how to approach it, now that she has the whole picture of the situation.
"Forgive me, you've come such a long way, you must be very tired. We will prepare you chambers, Missandei will show you. We'll have a bath run for you and bring you supper. If you need anything, speak to her." she forced a smile and was about to turn to Varys, but she noticed the distrustful face especially on Robb's face. Yeah... I should have understood trauma better. "I swear to my mother's memory that nothing will happen to you under my roof. You can walk around the entire island, after all, you are not my prisoners."
"You took our boat." he noticed, stopping her for a moment more.
"You'll get it back when we finish our meeting."
That was the last thing she said. She stood with her back to them and waited for them to leave so she could talk about this 'important matter'.
Robb and Davos had no other choice, so they left the chamber, and Missandei left with them. Of course he was afraid to stay in someone's home, especially since he didn't have any weapons. On the one hand, the memories of the Red Wedding came back to him as soon as he saw Visenya, but on the other hand, he felt an inexplicable peace in her presence.
She carried herself in a way that exuded confidence and strength, her outfit was in the same style as Missandei's, only more ornate. A silver chain ran across her chest, with a long piece of fabric with embroidered scales attached to it at the back. Even her hairstyle was unique, lots of braids tied up into a bun, with only a few strands left loose. When you looked at her, you truly saw a Queen, a strong personality, who knew what she wanted and how to get it.
However, after talking to her... To a large extent, it was all just appearances. She was not a cold-blooded murderer who would do anything to achieve her goal. Her difficult past certainly shaped most of her character. Therefore, he was prone to believe that she really wanted to change the world for the better.
They were practically the same age, and although life has verified many of their dreams, they still have ideals in them.
It was even good that they were interrupted. He will be able to prepare better for his next conversation with her, now that he knows how he should approach her.
Behind closed doors, however, the conversation finally began.
"We already know where the Iron Fleet is..." Varys began. It was clear from the beginning that he had bad news. "Two or three ships escaped, the rest sunk or captured. Ellaria Sand and Sand Snakes, who were to leave ships at Sunspear captured or dead, Yara and Theon Greyjoy captured or dead."
For a moment she didn't know what to do. This was only the beginning, and their plan was already starting to fall apart. Conducting a war so that as few people die as possible is much more difficult and complicated than throwing all your forces at once and breaking the enemy...
Nobody said it will be easy to be good.
"If they're alive, Euron will definitely sail with them to King's Landing... Is there any chance he's not there yet?" she asked finally.
Maybe she should sacrifice them, after all, they knew what they were signing up for. But what kind of Queen will she be if she so quickly gives up on the people who decided to fight for her?
"It is possible, but Your Grace-"
"So please, write to Euron." she interrupted Varys before he could dissuade her from this idea. "Write, that if he releases all those captured, I will meet with him."
He wanted to meet the Dragon Queen, so I will give him the opportunity, but not for free.
